PHOENIX, AZ (August 31, 2026) – Building on record international activity and engagements with Taiwan, the Arizona Commerce Authority is leading a semiconductor‑focused delegation visit to Taiwan from August 31 through September 4, 2026. The delegation includes more than 100 representatives from local government, economic development, education, workforce and industry partners, and community organizations. 

 

Delegation participants include Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority; Danny Seiden, President and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry; education leaders from Arizona universities and community colleges; and community leaders representing economic development, municipalities and businesses. 

On the first day, the delegation will participate in an American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Workforce Summit. On the second day, delegates will attend a SEMICON Network Summit organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by ITRI and SEMI. The event brings together government officials, industry leaders, and international representatives to discuss the future of trusted semiconductor cooperation. In addition, the ACA will host an Arizona Forum with nearly 200 attendees, highlighting the state’s business advantages, semiconductor leadership, and workforce strengths and a reception highlighting partnerships and collaboration between Arizona and Taiwan. 

On Sept. 2-4, the delegation will attend SEMICON Taiwan, which is expected to convene over 1,200 leading semiconductor and technology companies, and the U.S. Pavilion opening on September 2. 

On Sept, 2, the delegation will participate in the 2026 Taiwan-U.S. Summit on Technology Talent, Innovative R&D and Industrial Investment Cooperation. Organized by Taiwan Aeon Corporation, an international education and talent development platform in Asia, the Taiwan-U.S. Summit will bring together top government, academia, and industry leaders in Taiwan and the U.S.  

On the fourth day, the delegation will visit the Neihu Technology Park in Taipei and attend an AIT reception, before wrapping up the visit on September 4 by attending the final day of SEMICON Taiwan and the 2026 Geo‑Politics and Trusted Semiconductor Supply Chain Partnership Forum.

The visit marks the ACA’s third delegation to Taiwan in 2026, following leading a May mission with visits to Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea, and builds on recent milestones between Arizona and Taiwan.  

On July 3, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced plans to open a Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Phoenix, recognizing Arizona’s growing role in U.S.–Taiwan semiconductor and high‑tech collaboration. The office will support Taiwanese companies, facilitate investment, and grow cooperation across technology, supply chains, education, and workforce development. 

  

The initiative follows the May opening of Taiwan’s Trade and Investment Service Center in Phoenix—another milestone for bilateral partnership. 

 

The ACA opened the Arizona-Taiwan Trade & Investment Office in 2023. Located in Taipei, the office serves as a platform to increase economic collaboration and foreign direct investment opportunities between Arizona and Taiwan.
